having new bathroom fitted, was wanting downlighting, i have been told its advisable to have on a separate circuit is this correct, don't see why has lighting circuit is not overloaded? is a new circuit needed?

Is it something to do with the 17th where you have to have the lights and stuff RCD protected?

Like my house, sometimes it might be better to whip in a dedicated from t'RCD/RCBO and be done with it..handy also for the fans and stuff..;)

If you are altering or extending the lighting circuit
for your new downlights, it needs to be covered by the
17th and bathrooms are classed special locations.
So it needs an RCD to protect the circuit
could be that the easyest way to conform ,is to run a new circuit. Your local electrician will advise you

also would advise that if you have a split board (16th edition) you don't put on rcd along with the shower as if you get a prob with shower when its dark the rcd will trip the lights too. either use seperate rcbo or an rcd spur outside bathroom
