Hi fella's need just a wee bit of advice. What is the minimum size cable i can use for a 63A MCB, Type C. The isolator it is feeding is only 3 metres away from the distribution board. It will be a 3 core SWA clipped to a tray. Any help would be ok.

    Me neither..

But I would have no problem installing it for a 63A supply if needs must..

Depends what it was actually feeding, I mean if it was running at 60 odd amps all day long then 16mm it would be, but for say a submain with a few circuits getting used occasionally then 10mm will be fine.

Are you sure it needs a 63 amp supply then?

Fork truck charges can have horrendous starting currents for the first few minutes on a flat battery.

We always fit type D MCBs to big transformers like this.

For the length involved I would have thought 16mm as a minimum. Labour costs will be 10 times materials.

i've passed on the job. customer refused to to accept that the supply/isolator and circuit breaker needed up grading. so they are going to get someone in (Jam roll!!!!) who will diconnect the current charger. and connect up the new chargers..... to A 20 supply !!!. the label on the side of the new charger states 80A

oh well good luck to them.

80A is probably the OUTPUT ELV SIDE of the transformer..........

Fork truck chargers come in many different sizes.

20amp SP are common, as are 32amp TP. Not seen a 63 or 80amp SP TBH, I guess they could exist.
