New grout is quite different colours throughout, any reason?

Hello, I laid these porcelain tiles and the first attempt for grouting was far too white. I since raked this out and replaced with the pictured grout. On both occasions, the grout is a very different colour along the lines varying from what it should be, to a much darker tone as if it were...

I was removing an old towel hook in my bathroom and as I was removing the old raw plugs, the tile cracked and broke - I am now in the dog house with the wife! I have never done tiling before so is this an easy fix for one tile? I’m assuming all id need from b&q is the tile, adhesive & grout...

    Underfloor heating and service runs

We have a property which we recently bought but we understand was renovated around 12 years ago. This morning we sprung a leak in the first floor bathroom and it’s dripping through to the lounge. The bathroom floor is timber in construction, with underfloor heating and finished with tiles on...

    Bathroom insulation

Would kingspan and 12mm insulated prowarm boards be a good solution to insulate the bathroom in preparation for tiling Currently it's cladded in tongue and groove and polystyrene insulation, not very warm, not very good for tiling 😂 It is a cavity wall

Can I put hot cold pipes for sink in exterior wall

I’m hoping to move my sink hot cold pipes into an exterior wall. They’re currently coming up through the floor but we’d like a floating vanity so the pipes need to be routed into the wall. Is putting these pipes through an exterior wall a bad idea? I’m using plastic pipes.

    Low water pressure

I’m hoping someone can help. Earlier in the year we had our bathroom revamped. Water pressure to the bath was always low but to the basin it was good (we didn’t turn the cold tap on fully as it would splash everywhere if we did). Since having a new basin, and tap, the water trickles out, even...

Which adhesive seal around oak trim near shower?

Hi, I’ve posted here as I suppose someone may have the answer as it could relate to building, decorating, plumbing or perhaps tiling. I’m installing a reclaimed oak trim around a tiled shower area and I’m wondering what sealant to use on the small gaps where it meets a metal tile trim that’s...

Does this look ok? (JG Speedfit)

There was copper pipework in place previously (with a bathtub) and now, for a shower tray, basin etc, the pipework has had to go below the floor. Am not familiar with the reliability of speedfit and this is what the plumber installed. Is this ok? Would copper have been better? Also, the plumber...

    Gravity Fed Basin Taps Slow

In my uncles bathroom the basin mixer tap which I know is gravity fed doesn't flow all that fast. I can see that the flexi hoses coming of 15mm copper piping look very thin indeed so I am wondering if I could change them for slightly bigger bore ones, would that help the flow much? The other...

Silicone or cement mix to lay shower tray

I’m laying down a 1200 x 760 stone resin on a floor that isn’t level. Manufacture instructions recommend a cement mix or silicone. Silicone seems like the simpler option but can this be used to level a shower tray? Or would a sand cement mix be better for this?

Hi guys So my plasterer finished plastering a couple of weeks ago and I’ve just got the bathroom tiled. There is a 2cm gap between the bathtub and the wall and I’m not sure what to do about this. I’ve got the acrylic bath panel to put on where I know there will be that gap. What can I do?

Hey, does anyone know where to buy a double insulated bathroom mirror. Just got a new bathroom fitted and the wire used for the mirror was joined to another wire which doesn't have an earth connected. I have hunted high and low for a double insulated mirror with no joy so far.
