There was copper pipework in place previously (with a bathtub) and now, for a shower tray, basin etc, the pipework has had to go below the floor.
Am not familiar with the reliability of speedfit and this is what the plumber installed. Is this ok? Would copper have been better?
Also, the plumber...
In my uncles bathroom the basin mixer tap which I know is gravity fed doesn't flow all that fast. I can see that the flexi hoses coming of 15mm copper piping look very thin indeed so I am wondering if I could change them for slightly bigger bore ones, would that help the flow much?
The other...
I’m laying down a 1200 x 760 stone resin on a floor that isn’t level.
Manufacture instructions recommend a cement mix or silicone.
Silicone seems like the simpler option but can this be used to level a shower tray? Or would a sand cement mix be better for this?
Hi guys
So my plasterer finished plastering a couple of weeks ago and I’ve just got the bathroom tiled. There is a 2cm gap between the bathtub and the wall and I’m not sure what to do about this. I’ve got the acrylic bath panel to put on where I know there will be that gap. What can I do?
Hey, does anyone know where to buy a double insulated bathroom mirror. Just got a new bathroom fitted and the wire used for the mirror was joined to another wire which doesn't have an earth connected. I have hunted high and low for a double insulated mirror with no joy so far.
I’m in the process of connecting a shower tray waste and have encountered an issue. The tray is being installed on plywood, with layers of chipboard and OSB beneath it, which has raised the trap significantly. As a result, it’s not aligning with the existing waste pipes.
Would it be better to...
After researching the debate between using a mortar mix or tile adhesive for laying a shower tray, I’ve decided to go with tile adhesive.
Does anyone have any recommendations or thoughts on this? I was considering using the following product...
I’ve recently purchased a shower tray, and I noticed that the middle is slightly raised when I check it with a spirit level. Are the edges of a shower tray supposed to be completely flat, or is this normal? Should I be concerned about this affecting installation or water drainage?
Is this too large a gap at the top of tile backer board? The board is secured in place so can’t easily replace it so thinking I could fill it with silicone or put in a thin piece.
Hi Folks
We have a problem with a leak in what I think is going to be a pretty tricky place to access.
This started a couple of days ago in our upstairs bathroom when my daughter removed the bath plug to drain her bath. I was sitting downstairs in our living room when this happened and could...
Hi guys,
Tore out a bathroom and obviously there had been a previous leak judging by the floorboards.
Joists were fine, and slightly older joists were reinforced/had the load distributed using noggins for good measure.
Now, one of the slightly “blacker” floorboards sits partially along the...
Hi all,
Per title - recently went on holiday for a week and we came back to the worst smell of damp in the ensuite bathroom! We’ve never noticed before - new build, moved in early April 2022 as a brand new property. We always have the window open (or at the very least the window vent) and...
I was planning to attach wood where necessary for additional support, but this section has a lot of pipes, making it impossible to add any wood to drill into.
The studs are spaced 600mm apart, and the backer board I’m using is 1200 x 600 x 20mm.
Do you have any suggestions on how to securely...
My bathroom floor consists of 2 layers, OSB board and T&G chipboard. I’m laying a 1200 x 760 shower tray down on plywood but was wondering which thickness plywood I should be using?
I was thinking 18mm but may need to go thinner as I need my floor tiles to cover the plywood. Not sure if there...
I’m planning on laying tile backer board on chipboard flooring prior to tiling. Which adhesive is required to lay the backer on to?
Would something like this work? https://www.screwfix.com/p/no-nonse...=0AAAAAD8IdPz9Q0PWDQXuuk1M9yTmHDKI2&gclsrc=ds
Maybe a non fast set adhesive as I’m not a pro.
What is the best method for tiling a bathroom T&G chipboard floor using tile backer board?
The floor is flat and secure.
I’m considering using 6mm backer board, but I’m unsure whether screws alone are sufficient for securing it, or if adhesive is also necessary. Any advice?
How can I position my shower tray waste in the center, where the hot and cold pipes are currently located? Would it be possible to place the waste pipe and trap above the hot/cold pipes, or would it be better to re-route the pipes instead?
