Hello chaps and chapesses.
Had my old myson pump that sounded like a bag of hammers replaced by the local plumber who is a CH engineer. Had to go on holiday so never had a chance to test it. Radiators not getting hot at all and some clay cold. As I'm a diy-er - flushed out the system and...
Hi all!
First time posting - really hoping someone can help me.
When we turn on our central heating there is an loud banging noise from near the radiator in the main bedroom. It's not just when the heating is turned on or off/cooling down, it's ongoing.
It's driving me mental!
I've tried...
Hi All,
I would be very grateful for advice to help troubleshoot a recurring problem we have with our central heating system. It began last winter and has returned in recent weeks as the temperatures have dropped...
We have an open-vented CH system and hot water cylinder, on a Honeywell...
Hi All-
I'm having problems with my CH system. I'm getting very long pump over-run (forever!), with the boiler not cooling down any quicker than you think it would if it was unpumped.
Based on other Q&As here, I've done loads of investigating and narrowed it down to two possible symptoms -...
Hi all.
I have a Glow Worm 30CXI installed in boiler cupboard upstairs. Since I've moved in I havent been able to get the timer to work properly on the boiler itself. The timer works - the clock is moving and you can hear it - but it doesn't work on the program timer. The boiler does function...
Hi
I have purchased and fitted a DT90e to replace my mechanical thermostat! I have a unit in the kitchen which turns the water and central heating on / off then a thermostat in the hall.
At the the thermostat location I have a red (live) blue (neutral) and earth. Is it correct I only wire the...
Hi guys!
Any help on this matter will be muchly appreciated.
I need to remove a radiator in my living room, but I want to be able to replace it at some point down the line as the house is rented (landlords permission already granted).
Once the radiator is removed, I will be placing an item...
I'm just in the process of removing a radiator from my microbore system. The pipes are set into the concrete floor. I want to remove the pipes from the manifold rather than put stop ends on. What's the easiest way to work out which pipes at the manifold feed that radiator please?
Recently bought a house and I'm renovating a bathroom and need to change out the old rad, long story short, the hot water tank, cold water tank and (I think) the expansion tank are completely inaccessible to me - they are right up in the apex of the barn-like garage roof which is vaulted and so...
Hi all!
We've been having a problem with the central heating in our rental house for the last 3 years.
Every so often the heating turns on, even when the timer is set to off, and will run that way for weeks. The only way to switch it off is by turning off the power going to it.
Our landlord's...
I have a problem with my domestic central heating system, which I think maybe an airlock.
My boiler is in the loft and the pump is in the airing cupboard. The connecting pipe is ~2m vertical, 3m horizontal and another 1.5m vertical to the boiler with ~200mm horizontal and then 200mm vertical...
Plumber has finished our bathroom installation and I've just found under the floorboards 2 deadlegs on H&C central heating pipes capped with john guest end stops.
Is this acceptable as a permanent fix or should it be copper caps ?
I ask because I've lost all confidence in his as a professional...
Could anyone help me identify this component?
It was installed by BG when we switched from an open CH system to a combi sealed system with a Greenstar 30CDi boiler.
Its obstructing a space we want to move the tumble dryer into but not sure what it is or whether it is optional/can be moved etc...
Hello Community
My first post so please bear with any stupid questions or comments
I have an issue where a single radiator is not working
Background - I moved into this 3-bed, double-storey, terraced house few years ago, nothing has been changed until now. I don't ever remember the front...
Our central heating system works separately over two floors (Individual thermostats), we have 12 radiators (6 on each floor) including 1 radiator without TRVs on each floor, one in the master bedroom and one in the lounge.
My confusion is this... When either heating system is on, the radiator...
we have old central heating but are not ready to replace it as it is working fine. however, we do want to remove one radiator in the kitchen to fit more cupboards in but as both pipes go in the rad at the same end, we are not sure how to cap it off and don't know if this will affect the other...
A friend has a combi boiler that was working fine until this winter when the downstairs rads stopped heating up. A plumber visited and played around with the valves on the upstairs rads, but left saying all good and she'd just need to play around with the valves some more.
I went round last...
Builder/plumber has started to chase in these radiator pipes and tells me he is going to plaster straight over the top- is this normal?
I've heard that the heat of the pipes may blow the plaster and they need to be insulated.
Builder has also told me he won't be replacing the plastic clips...
Firstly apologies for my poor paint skills.
I'm putting a new central heating system in my house and was wondering if the following setup will work.
i've only sketched the CHF i obviously understand i'll need to replicate this for the return.
I was going to use 22mm from boiler to 2 JG 4 way...
So we had central heating installed and were later told that the plumbers had cut through the joists when they shouldn't have- the floorboards were essentially resting on the pipes etc.... So then somebody came along and drilled holes through the joists under the cuts to feed the pipes through...
