Hi, We
We have recently knocked down a wall between our dining room and kitchen.
Both floors don't seem to be flush with each other.
The wall was a little over 2m wide.
On the floor, where the wall used to be is a ramp rather than a flat surface.
The ramp is obviously the same size of the wall...
We have marley tiles on the ground floor and want to lay some underlay for laminate flooring.
Not sure if damp proofing is necessary. Thermal insulation would be a preference to keep heat in the house.
Hi guys,
Looking for abit of advice here.
I have a concrete kitchen floor that is falling 30mm /4.5m from the large window at the back to the existing floor boards. I can't take the slope out as it would cause a 30mm step at the transition from kitchen to living room.
I have some Bostik...
Hi
im trying to prepare my office to lay luxury click vinyl flooring planks from Wickes (like laminate flooring planks).
ive read everywhere about having a level floor and I’m going to lay these over floorboards. I’ve bought some 5.5mm hardwood plywood from wickes in case I need to use these...
Hi all,
I’ve hammered into and removed a 3/4” thick slab of screed from under where an old marble fireplace used to be sitting (presumably for support?) …because the floor boards were rising up toward the wall, screed was higher than the floorboards and so a subfloor for laminate install was...
Just moved into my new home & all the rooms have what looks to be engineered wood flooring. The original relatively low & plain skirting board has been left in place & unsightly scotia beading has been used to cover the expansion gap. The original skirting looks to be 18mm thick. I am not too...
Hello all. We are looking to have our lvt click flooring ripped up and replaced in our living room and hallway. I do however, have a dilemma.
The previous owner has laid celotex (25mm) over the concrete floor and then laid the lvt flooring over the top and as a result, raised the skirting...
Hey all
I am looking to have laminate flooring laid in our living room. Is it suitable to latex the concrete floor and then lay tongue and groove chip board before laying underlay and then finally the laminate.
The reason I’d like to do this is the previous owner had celotex and then The...
My bedroom has old pine wood flooring. It's mostly in decent condition apart from where there has been some pipe work near the radiator last few boards near wall. So a few boards there is quite a gap & some unevenness. There is no movement. There is also a few holes from knots in the wood. Is...
I got a roll of Duralay silentfloor gold underlay.
Not sure which side down it goes.
The underlay itself says fit this side up but instructions attached to it say lay foil side down. Very contradictory.
Not too bothered about moisture blocking as its in upstairs bedroom with wooden...
Washing machine makes loud knocking noise on 1400 spins (transport bolts are out and machine is level)
I have 12mm laminate on 5mm foam underlay in the kitchen to which the washing machine sits.
The rear of the laminate where it reaches the back wall is somewhat 'bouncy' and i believe this is...
I paid a local guy to replace my carpet for laminate. He has laid it over the carpet underlay and told me to return the laminate underlay for a refund as carpet underlay is much better.
I am now left with an extremely spongy laminate floor.
Please can anyone let me know what I can do to fix...
Hello everyone,
I've just had laminate flooring fitted by a joiner. After he finished last night I noticed that around sections of the wall and the doorways, the expansion gap was not consistent. He also screwed the door threshold right through the laminate.
I have attached some photos to...
Hi guys,
Wondering if anyone has any recommendations for the best laminate flooring/brands?
We're looking for something hardwearing that will see heavy traffic through a kitchen, lounge and conservatory (the house's main thoroughfare). We have young kids and a dog so the floor will see a lot...
Hello all,
Just wondering if I could get some advice please. I am planning on laying laminate flooring on a concrete floor. The current floor doesn't seem too bad as far as moisture is concerned. However, as a precaution, I would like to go with some form of underlay with a moisture barrier and...
Hi all.
I am putting down 12mm floating laminate floor right throughout downstairs with the hope to flow the laminate through doorways without a transition strip for a really slick look at the end (same level subfloor important).
It is a concrete subfloor. Most of the floor is really nice and...
Hi guys, I am about to start laying down laminate flooring and there are some spots on the subfloor (concrete) that are lower than others slightly. Question is what the tolerance is on laminate flooring?
For example I laid new concrete in a 300mm channel for a soil pipe and when it dried out...
Hello,
laying down some laminate flooring for the first time. Have watched lots of videos etc, followed instructions etc but for some reason in 3 corners of the room, the plank is not flat in the corners I.e raised off the floor by a cm or so! Have tripled checked all joins to make sure neatly...
Hi
I have an upstairs bedroom and the floorboards are not in great condition (gaps and not very level). So before we put laminate down I am going to cover the floor with sheets of 12mm ply. Question is, If I screw every 150mm on the ply, do I need to leave an expansion gap around the edges...
