Good day to all
I'm separating a room with a stud wall and the new room needs light. What's the easiest route to run from? Ceiling rose light or a pull switch in the room? I did similar in the attic over 10 years ago but forgot what I did.
If anyone knows of any diagrams I could follow I'd be...
Hello,
we currently have a light fixture that dangles from the ceiling. I just wanted to know how we go about reattaching this to the ceiling and if this is safe to do ourselves? I believe it is all wired correctly, just needs putting back in place
I’ve added a picture for reference
Thank you
Afternoon all, One of the 3 downlighters in my bathroom has blown, cannot see a like for like replacement, any suggestions please on what downlighter to buy to replace it with? Many thanks
I've taken out an old light fitting and installed a spotlight bar, however there's a slight gap that reaches up to about 10mm in width and about 60mm along one side of the bar left from the hole for the old fitting. I tried just plastering over it but it just instantly cracked when drying...
Hi all,
I'm just about to replace the old ceiling rose with a new flush fitting light. I am going to use wago Lever connectors to group the loop live and neutrals. I am going to use a wago 3 way lighting connectors for the switch live and neutral to the fitting.
I think all is well, and this...

I've just moved into a new house and one of the spotlights in the living room needs replacing, however I can't for the life of me figure out, how to get the bulb out.
Can anyone advise? I've attached a couple of pictures.
It won't turn, there don't appear to be any clips, it's not held in by a...
I have a new light.
Just took the old metal light off. The new light is metal but double insulated, so don’t need to earth it. Right?
The metal bracket from the old light looks earthed? A smalL piece of metal attached to the bracket goes into the connector. that’s also where the old light’s...
Hi
I'm looking at replacing a light fitting upstairs, when I took the existing off to take a look it had 2 red wires and 1 green wire coming out.
How would I need to fit this?
I've also attached photos of the light fitting I want to replace it with.
Thanks

New to the community but hoping someone can help with a little wiring question I have…
I’m trying to fit a new porch light in place of the dangling bulb there currently. Wiring is old (black & red, not blue & brown) and so far I’ve been able to just replicate whatever wiring layouts...
I have a victorian home, my ceiling is lath and plaster with new plaster board over the top and plaster ceiling rose has been screwed into to the plasterboard. The whole lot has then been replastered.

Hi guys,
my whole post got deleted so time to write again.
I am used to wiring indoor lights but need some help for outdoor. We are putting in 4 LED Wall lights and i am wondering what cable to use for it? Is it SWA, SY, or something else? The lights are rated at 5W apparently according to the...

I have a new ceiling rose with two ports - blue and brown.

Hi everyone,
So, let me the first to say I’ve been incredibly stupid by not taking a photo of the old light fitting configuration. -claps-
My ceiling wires have:
3 x red wires (one of these keeps the light on at all times so switch is useless)
1 x black wire
2 x earth
So I’m at the point...
One of the bulb holders has gone on our light fitting (ikea erbium), photos below. Is it easy to replace the bulb holder/socket by itself? If so, what is the spare part called and where do I get it from?
Alternatively, is it going to be easy to find a fitting to match the diameter of the...
Guys I'm having trouble with a light in bedroom which only has 3 wires extruding from ceiling.

No idea how to wire this light as I only have 1 wire (red) which I assume come from the switch...
Hi, my youngest has bought a flat, and finally learning DIY. He’s had / having professionals in to do big jobs, but wants to do this job himself. The electrics there aren’t pretty, and he will get a new CU fitted in 2021.
