I'm fixing up a recessed window sill. I removed decades' worth of paint, many layers of which had mould between them (which was expected, and the reason for stripping back entirely).
Once I skim the wall & sill, what's the best way to mould-proof?
Unsure if there's anything I should do with...
When adding an anti mould additive to paint like vc175, should this be added to only the top final coat or all finishing coats?
I have done my mist coat and now plan to do two top finishing coats.
Hi,
I live in a 1870s terraced house with a fairly large step gable that leaves my attic (not an issue) and parts of the cavity less walls of my 2 bedrooms exposed. There is an alcove in the 2 rooms where roughly half of the walk gets mould and/or damp build up due to the cold. I have removed...
I've got a room at the side of my kitchen that is used as a laundry room, believe it used to be the kitchen years ago when house was first built. This room is just bare brick which council have just put magnolia paint over the top. Although not pretty it hasn't caused any problems until...
Had room newly plastered.
Solid exterior wall has always caused problems with condensation and mould so would like to put up Wallrock KV600 thermal liner paper with 2 coats of mould resistant paint on top (maybe using a paint additive like VC175).
Should I mist coat the fresh plaster walls...
(I swear the title of this was "new bathroom ceiling" when I hit go)
The bathroom ceiling in my new house has got very mouldy over this winter.
To the point where wiping it off once a week has started taking paint with it in places.
I'm thinking I need to replace it with something more...

Have a good amount of this membrane left which my builder previously used when laying down concrete. Really heavy duty stuff.
I'm fixing insulated plasterboards to a solid wall which already...
I plan to fix insulated plasterboard to this cold solid wall. Everything will be fixed and sealed off using foam adhesive and acrylic sealant on this wall.
But along the top I hacked off bonding and loose lime plaster beneath as it was coming out too much causing rest of wall to be unlevel. It...
Morning water droplets on the ceiling and high up window
Condensation build up in part of the room
I have a flat-concrete roof covered in felt
And the walls are brick /plaster so no insulation either way internally
is there something I can do internally to the walls and ceiling To keep the...
Hi guys, I’m a full on novice with DIY!
I bought a shed in summer and the last few weeks it’s got insane levels of mould inside! I’ve sprayed it with mould remover for now but I need to know how to stop it altogether. I’m thinking about insulating it to prevent to crazy temp changes as it seems...
Hello,
I’m trying to understand what type of damp issue I have in my kitchen and how to best resolve it. The kitchen has three external brick walls and one wall in particular has the worst mould problem behind the unit and now also has paint peeling off with white crystals coming off the wall...
Had the kitchen extension done 5 years ago and I've noticed over past few years there is black mould in corner where external doors are. Was very small at first so I ignored it.
There is of course damp proof course so I don't understand what is causing the damp. My guess is there is rising damp...
I have a really out of level bowed internal exterior wall in old Victorian terraced property that was previously plastered with multi finish many years ago. By most it is off by 1 inch/2.5cm. I have been told not to use browning or bonding to level this out as it attracts moisture being an...
Interior walls are wet to the touch and have tide line and mould growth. The walls are 2 skin solid brick with no cavity and plaster straight ontop of brick. When drilling I get wet red brick sludge instead of dust. I'm trying to find a way to stop the damp coming through, if tried sealing...
Hi,
I’m really hoping someone can shed some light on the problems I’ve had since moving into my house a year ago. The 4 corners of the house upstairs are suffering with damp and mould.... it’s not when it’s rained tho, it’s when the outside temperature is very cold. When the temperature drops...
I have converted my garage into a room and it has had a condensation issue which caused mould, everything i found said it needed ventilation so i put in some vents and now the condensation is worse than ever anyone have any advice? The garage is concrete walls with aspestos roof no windows.
hi, i had a thread a few week ago about my new summerhouse getting mouldy, i took everyone's advise about the humidity level as the pressure treaded wood was still quite damp from the installation. ive been airing it out and bought a unibond moisture absorber which seems to be doing the job as...
Hi everyone,
I wonder if I could get some advice on this.
I recently moved into a 2 bedroom flat with a big internal stone wall.
After three weeks I started to get really sick and noticed the symptoms were going away when outside. I discovered this patches on the stone wall and I was...
Hi. 1st post and after some advise please. Last month we had a summerhouse installed. We spent a little extra rather than getting a cheap off the shelf and had one made by a local company. We literally waited all summer for it and it got delivered and built on a wet October morning. And it's...
Hi all,
Every Winter, and to be honest all year round (but not as bad as Winter) we have noticed in our main bedroom, 1 cold damp wall (exterior gable end) and another damp cold wall where we have fitted wardrobes (I know this isn’t ideal so going to remove them) the wall behind the wardrobe is...
