I had my boiler serviced on Tuesday, and 2 days later it has started to make a loud vibration noise, boiler engineer came back and said the water was overflowing from the condensate trap in the boiler, he cleared it and said if it happens again it is likely a blockage.
Guess what, 2 days later...
I’m hoping to move my sink hot cold pipes into an exterior wall. They’re currently coming up through the floor but we’d like a floating vanity so the pipes need to be routed into the wall.
Is putting these pipes through an exterior wall a bad idea? I’m using plastic pipes.
Anyone know what this is wrapped round our pipes in the loft? Looks like hessian and possibly nylon tights…? Is it safe to remove and replace with foam insulation.
Hello. I am trying to fit a 50mm boss adapter onto an old soil stack. But the connection has an internal diameter of 50mm which is smaller than normal. I've tried an Osma & Hunter solvent weld adapter but doesn't fit. Can't see any branding on the soil stack to help me out either. Everything...
There was copper pipework in place previously (with a bathtub) and now, for a shower tray, basin etc, the pipework has had to go below the floor.
Am not familiar with the reliability of speedfit and this is what the plumber installed. Is this ok? Would copper have been better?
Also, the plumber...
For the 10 days the kitchen sink has been leaking from the AAV on the P Trap. I've taken all the pipework off, cleaned it and made sure nothing was blocking the pipe. I've also run a drain snake down as far as I could, and flushed it out with drain unblocker. The sink has a dishwasher outlet on...
I had some rising damp on the wall surrounding the exterior cast iron soil pipe of my 1910 home. The base of the soil pipe was surrounded by a stone/ concrete mix which I have removed to check if there was a leak coming from the pipe. The bottom of the soil pipe and the base aren’t fully...
Can anyone notice any issues with this pipework? These are hot and cold water pipes leading to a shower plate. My only concern is that after turning the water off and removing the caps, no water came out at all. Normally, I would expect at least a few drops. Any thoughts?
I’m installing a waste pipe for my shower, with the pipe running about 600mm to the center of the tray, where it will connect to the trap.
I’ve read a fall of 1 cm per every 40cm is adequate. What is the best method to ensure the correct slope has been reached for proper drainage?
I’m using...
I'm planning to replace a long horizonal radiator under living room window with two tall single panel designer vertical ones (1800*380 and 1800*480), on either side of the window. BTUs are around 3500 for each vertical radiator.
The distance between the vertical radiators (from centre) will be...
if there was one small tool or product that is not already on the market which will save you time or make yor job easier as a plumber, what would it be? what is the most common frustration or challenge you face in your daily work that you wish had a simple solution to it?
I currently have a drop feed to another one of my downstairs radiators which is at the end of a part of the upstairs radiator run.
Currently the order goes upstairs radiator, upstairs radiator, then ending in downstairs radiator being teed off from 22mm feed/return.
I plan to move the...
Hi
our toilet push button mechanism broke and I don’t know what type it was in order to replace. Rather than paying £100+ for plumber to fit whole new system, could anyone advise please?
I know there’s a bit missing from inside too that attaches the pulley on the ballcock to the push button...
Looking to change microbore 15mm downstairs. Had a couple of questions, as I've only replaced radiators like for like/similar location in the past.
1) Can the 15mm pipe supplying an upstairs radiator [type 22; 500x700; 3613BTU] (teed off from the 22m feed and return) be used to connect a drop...
I recently purchased a property and have zero idea on how the gas/boiler system works (photos attached).
Hoping for someone with more expertise to give some advice as I've no one else to ask.
Boiler with valve & switch:
Boiler brand on top:
Pipe with meter & valve directly below boiler...
How can I position my shower tray waste in the center, where the hot and cold pipes are currently located? Would it be possible to place the waste pipe and trap above the hot/cold pipes, or would it be better to re-route the pipes instead?
I'm installing a shower tray and need to decide on the best location for the shower waste. I have two options: placing it in the top left, where there's a joist, or in the middle, where the hot and cold pipes are located. I haven't purchased the tray yet, so I can choose any waste location...
