Hi all need a bit of advice.
Not long been in my new house and the kitchen laminate flooring is in dire need of being replaced!
I've had a look under it and there are tiles fitted which look to be about 30 years old from when the house was built.
I'm looking to get a new kitchen deluxe...
Hi Everyone,
I'm a first time poster on this forum and i will say now i'm a keen DIYer but not a professional.
My bathroom (which is on the second floor) has a fairly uneven floor (i would estimate a dip of about 1inch in the middle) on which a so called professional tried to tile onto. They...

I'm a new member so apologies if this is the wrong forum to be posting this. I searched to see if there were any similar questions but couldn't find any...
Anyway, the overflow in the loft failed and caused a leak into the bathroom while I was away, causing the suspended ceiling to...
Hi,
I am a 27 year old Quantity Surveyor. I am considering changing career to get into tiling, as I am not a fan of sitting at a desk all day and much prefer doing something practical with my time. I am a keen and experienced DIY'er (decorating, plasterboarding/ lining etc).
Can anyone advise...

Hey ho.
I was hoping for some advice. I am going to preface this message with admitting ignorance on construction principles. Please try and tailor advice in layman terms and apologies if I've flubbed some of the terms.
The Job
We had tiles laid down on a large patio area in the garden. It...
Hi, we had to the board our ceiling in the bathroom and had the ceiling and walls plastered.
Due to us boarding ourselves we are left in sections with gaps between the ceiling and the wall join- therefore requiring coving.
We have tiled the bath area, so one wall is half tile then half plaster...
My bathroom fitter has left me in the lurch with half a bathroom complete. I'm looking to get some advice on how to close the gap between the edge of a bath tub and the top of a tiled bath panel. He built a frame for the bath, fitted the bath and then tiled the sides 2 tiles high but then raised...
Hi,
Confused by this one - so many people telling me one way or the other.
I favour tiling below and butting up bath as grout likely to perish often above bath and more chance later on for tiles to fall off?
Apologies if this topic has been covered already, but couldn't find anything on it.
I'm tiling a bathroom and have a couple of recessed shelves on the wall next to the bath/shower, which will be tiled. I was planning to use metal tile edging on the edges of the shelves, as the porcelain tiles I...
Am about to embark on a new bathroom project, 3 walls of the room are lath and plaster which is in pretty poor condition, 2 of which are going to be tiled for a walk in shower, what should i put up to replace the lath and plaster which will be a suitable substrate for tiling on?
Hi,
So here's what's going on. I've got slate tiles in my kitchen and they're not honed so obviously they're not level.
Unknown to me, one of the larger tiles is quite thin and there's now a hole in it. I can get my finger in there and there's an area (about 50mm x 50mm) that's not touching...
Afternoon, all.
Having the bathroom and kitchen done. 19m2 of tiling in bathroom, about 5m2 in the kitchen.
I'm being quoted £55/m2 for labour only. Already got the tiles (after some bloke ripped off my Mrs for £50/m2 for metro tiles that should have been £15/m2).
No idea who to ask if that's...
I have an opportunity to invest in a local Tile Shop and I'm researching the potential. We have what we believe are innovative retail ideas for the front of store (there are a number of boutique Kitchen and Bathroom stores locally so plenty of ideas to think about). However on the trade side I'd...
We are currently having a new ensuite built which will have a large shower area at one end. We are having an inset shelf incorporated (for shampoo bottles etc). So,when plaster boarding and then plastering the shower to get it ready for tiling, how should it be done? My builder has boarded and...
Hi,
We are having tiles put over plywood where the
hidden cistern is located.
At the moment there are different pieces
of plywood which make up the front of this
boxing, please see the photo.
I was wondering if it is better to have the plywood
in one piece without the joins? or will it...
Hi all,
I'm looking for a white grout that stays white (within reason) for some floor tiles we want to have laid.
I have heard about epoxy grout, but I've also heard that it's mega expensive!
What is the price of epoxy grout in comparison to normal grout please? Are there any other options...
Problem:
Tiling a kitchen floor.
Half is covered in bitumen (from parquet floor). Half is a new concrete slab.
There is a 35mm level difference across the floor and is fairly lumpy.
Possible solution No.1?:
Use latex self-levelling compound such as arditex na.
BUT: I am slightly worried...
The tiles to my bathroom are heavily stained due to a dripping service valve to the toilet. The valve has been replaced and the water drip has stopped.
I want to restore the tiles to their former glory. Please see the pics, one is of the staining and other is a example of how the tiles should...
Hi All,
is it possible to drill a piece of plywood on un- even wall to place tiles onto ?
The wall will be behind a gas cooker.
Is there any special primer that I should use
