0-10v dimmer wiring; will it become a standard thing?

I'm discovering the advantages of 0-10v (or 1-10v) dimmer wiring in residential settings. It's great because you don't necessarily need to run mains back to the switch, just cheap speaker wire.

I'm posting to see if the community thinks that this will become a common thing, and whether it will become normal to run maybe 24v twin, stranded wiring to all light installations. Even if it runs alongside the mains for a regular switching and dimming, laying that same cheap low-voltage cable at the same time would seem to be a real useful contingency for the future.

    Any thoughts or advice?

There is talk of this in the smart home community and vendors. When or if this is likely to happen is down to the manufacturers.

Smart home integrators often run CAT6 together with T&E to a light switch point for future compatibility.
