Been thinking about getting a kettle in the van for a while.

Often I am chasing about and never find the time for a brew.

Saw this and gave it a go.

Its a touch flimsy in places but has a good quality lead on it and a good quality plug.

    £11.99 from Roadking online

    So far so good.

It took about 5 minutes to make a really hot cup of coffee. Cup on it is sort of midway between an espresso cup and a mug. Fill level says 125ml so I think that is 2.5 espressos.

Its tiny. About the height of a pint glass and the width of two pint glasses.

    Very impressed so far.

Picked up some espresso ground tonight and will try that out in the morning.

Cant see any reason why I couldn't leave the coffee filter empty and run hot water through clean for tea or soup.

The lighter socket got a bit warm so not sure it could run all day.

Ideal for those kind of houses where you aren't going to accept the offer of a drink!

I'd love it, unfortunately there's barely room in my van for me, let alone any more stuff, I'm currently driving a skip on wheels. I survive on local shops and fast food outlets at the moment.

Road King also do a 12v frying pan, & you can/could get 12v microwaves.

You going for the full fry up experience to go with your coffee?

I remember having a look for some reviews of the 18v one, I wasn’t seriously thinking of buying one, just morbid curiosity.

I seem to remember that it takes a good 20 mins for a cup of coffee (that’s fine by me, set it going and carry on) and burns through pretty much a full battery per cup, I think it was either a 3ah or even a 4ah battery.

But yes. I’m tempted by the novelty element. Having said that, the one you got GB, for £12 sounds like a steal!

    Update.

Van is on fire as coffee maker malfunctioned.

    Only kidding.

Tried some Lidl Espresso Ground in it.

Took about 5 mins to make a very reasonable espresso style filter coffee. About double espresso size. Pretty hot pretty strong and really quite good.

Can't beat the time tested trusty flask?
Probably still be using my flask long after this gadget has gone wrong!

    More than likely.

But at twelve quid. Its going to take about 6 drinks to break even.

    After that its all gravy.

That was a perfectly weighted pass. Left you with an open goal.

12 volts at a maximum of 10A from the cigar lighter socket, 120 Watts, it will take ages to boil for tea but will be OK for coffee and soup.

Really impressed with it to be honest. Much faster than I thought it would be. It will take a bit of experimenting but a spoonful of Lidl Espresso Ground in the basket and about 125ml of water makes a proper hot good tasting double espresso in under 5 mins with the engine running.

You've dug up a thread from nearly two years ago.

I got all excited that KIAB was back whilst reading the replies Then I realised it was just another one dug up from the depths.
