I am going to install some 75mm low voltage lamps in my utility room. The room measures 8ft * 8ft. I have got 3 35w lamps would this be sufficient to light this area. Is there any way of working out what the number of lamps reqd. I have never installed any of these before so any advice would be gratefull.

Theres nothing wrong in going mains halogen just as another option being its in your utility room, cant see a utility room classed as a special location.

Therefore not needing to muck about with transformers, but choice is yours, but if you do go with SELV use 50W lamps and a transformer for each lamp with a 60Va rating.

    Hope it helps
