Thanks for your help, Mr Trent.

    As promised:

The roof of the house hangs over a good 450mm; I'm thinking of perhaps removing the first run of roof tiles to buy me more roof height. Is there any conservatory rule that says you can't alter the existing house roof?

    Hi Ed,

I'm in the same situation, do you have any photos or any advise you could pass on? My roof is 4x3m and the roof lantern will be 3x1.5m. Did you treble up with the 47x150 joist?
Any guidance would be much appreciated
    Alan

I'm afraid I chickened out in the end and just went for a solid roof. I was worried about the weight on my already slim joists, the insulation effect of a lantern, and how the lantern would block the ventilation on my cold roof.
