40cm squared plain tile

Hi all, hoping for some help today.

We changed dishwashers and had to remove the plinth. Sadly the plinth broke and now has to be replaced.

But what happened was that the floor tiles underneath the plinth started breaking!

We now have to replace about 3 kitchen floor tiles before we put back in a new plinth.

Not sure how hard it is to cut tile to size but trying to google to find a 40cmx40cm square plain cream tile has been impossible.

Is it better to get a different size and get it cut or just try to find a 40cmx40cm? If we have to get the correct size from the start, any recommendations?

Welcome any help.

Thank you,
Carla M

If you're lucky you might find some spare flooring tiles under the kitchen units somewhere - that's where I leave them (or under the bath if the bathroom has been tiled).

Failing that are there any tiles laid where they're not visible - under the units, washing machine, cooker or fridge etc that could be salvaged and used to replace the visible broken ones? You can use any old tiles in their stead if you need to swap.

Google search 400mm x 400mm cream floor tile should turn something up. A visit to a few mainstream suppliers could also turn up something. If the floor tiles are hidden behind the plinth and you just want to cover and seal the floor again then using cut 600mm tiles should work (thicknesses will vary between tiles). Again, if hidden you could go smaller and put more in. Ideally use a decent tile cutter or a diamond tipped disk in a mini grinder. (Wear eye and respiratory protection).
