Hello everyone! Just signed up after years of browsing, I have a few decking related questions.

I'm doing decking out my sisters garden and I'm just wondering...

What fixings you'd recommend to screw the ledger board to brick?

What do you usually use to space the ledger board off the brick?

How often do I need to set posts to support the deck & how deep do I need to dig?

    Cheers all!

    1. 5"/120mm M12 thunderbolts.
    2. Plastic packers about half an inch thick.
    3. Depends on your joist depth, but it's easier to lay paving slabs and site the posts on them, other than that, between about 3-400 deep on top of gravel, filled with concrete or postcrete. Lots of ways to do this query, it's whatever method suits.

Thanks for the fast reply, should I put thunderbolts through the ledger every 16" avoiding the joists or at different spacing?

Every two feet or so would do, screw it on to start then bolt it up once you've marked out where all the joists are going so to avoid them and the hangers.

Could I get away with using 4x2 for the frame or should I go for 6x2?
