Leaking when chain is pulled and water flows through. I am going to attempt to remove the leaking connector and replace it. I am a competant DIYer but not a plumber. so, just looking for tips and i have a few questions. Isolate water supply, pull chain to start draining cistern, finish draining cistern and pan, remove floor screws and pull toilet forward to remove connector. Replce with new connector attached at one end to the pan and the other end to the rigid horizontal soil pipe coming from the wall and then put it all back together and turn the water back on. Q 1 Do I use silicon or something similar to secure new connector? Q 2 What do I need to measure to get the correct size connector? Q 3 Should I use a rigid connector or a flexi one? ( horizontal soil pipe ) Q 4 Best connector to buy and from where? Q 5 Anything I need to watch out for? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Use quailty McAlpine pan connector, nothing better,no need for lube, prefer rigid connector, wide selection available, flexi is a last resort. Post a photo, we can then see what exsisting coonnector you have. https://mcalpineplumbing.com/wc-connectors Might not need to move bog for fitting.
