< however I'm operating a highly profitable and honest business operating within the law.>

Then you must be charging, joe, bloggs, £400.00 a socket, unless your business, is not honest, as you claim!:)

Thanks everyone for very helpful replies. I agree it seems madness to tell a client that to have one extra socket the whole board has to be replaced, but I think this advice came via the NIC (need I say more...).

It's likely that the client will want the board upgraded for more ways and RCD at some point, so will do full tests, note departures from the Regs and then if socket circuit OK, just add in new ordinary socket. She already uses an RCD plug in adapter for her lawnmower, so I don't think will want to cough up £60 odd for an rcd socket front.

    Thanks again

boys, boys why must these threads always degenerate into mudslinging?

Dumbsparky - your name says it all - and you are one of the worst offenders - get a grip. You show all the hallmarks of sombody who's not getting on in life.

For the guys who are after the fast quid - good luck to you - it's not really that dignified of you to have a pop at the real pro's.

The original question by Sparkybird has been answered - but yet again a post is hijacked with the doing it right/ doing it the way we want age old argument.

    C'mon be original.

Unphased - of course you are correct, in this case if it was my installation and I thought that it could be reasonably argued that the socket I was fitting could be used for something out of doors then I'd use a double rcd socket at aroung £20 a go, not beyond even the tightest scrooges budget.

All this is acedemic really - the person who asked the original question has to make a professional judgment at the end of the day - it's her name on the Minor works.
If she indeed fills one in - which clearly seems to be too jobsworthy for some of the learned posters on here.

Back to looking at a full diary and a healthy bank balance, ho hum.
