hi, I currently have one outside light running from a 2 gang fused spur and would like to additional low watt lights for the garden. Looking to add up to six new lights, 10-15 watt per light, linked by heavy gauge conduit pipe.

Should I start by wiring a new cable into the socket or join to the existing light? Anything I should consider?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

Is the conduit going to be buried? How many watts is the existing light?

Hi, the current light is a 6 watt spotlight. The conduit will run on a wall and a flower bed made of sleepers.

Thanks. Is it better practice to run from the existing light or from the socket?, or does it not matter either way?

If there is enough space in the existing light fitting and the terminals can accomodate the extra wires, then run it from there. Otherwise, run it from the socket.

What is a two gang fused spur?

That flex would stick out like a sore thumb. He is running conduit, which I assume would be plastic. You would run the plastic conduit into wiska boxes.
The lights if pre flexed would then enter the wiska box through a stuffing gland, if not pre flexed you would use black flex.
Terminate the cables in the wiska box with connector strip, wiska supplied connectors or wago's.

It would if run without any conduit, that's why I said if there is likely to be any exposed cable, assuming the conduit was also used.

Your suggestion to use Wiska boxes/glands etc. is how it should be done properly but I suspect the OP just has some conduit that they will be using to run between the lights.

Thanks. I have not purchased the equipment yet, so can add Wiska boxes. Would you use a wiska box from the existing light to start off?

Im ocd so i would yeah. I also install the wiska boxes behind the floodlights too. So when you look at the light you cant see no junction box haha

Thanks Jay. The wiska boxes may have to go below, as the lights are wall spot and there is no room.
