Grateful for any advice. I'm tiling a wall behind a wood burning stove with brick slips. What adhesive and mortar should I use? The wall is 2.3m tall x 3.1m wide. The guy that's selling me the brick slips has given me a quote for the other materials that comes to £182.50 Adhesive £7.50 per tube x 7 Adhesive gun - £35.00 Mortar £25.00 per bag x 3 Pointing bag - £10.00 Bag of 10mm spacers - £10.00 seems a bit steep? Thanks
I used Mapei tile adhesive for brick slips behind a woodburning stove 3 years ago and no problems since. Pointed up with a mix of 9 parts building sand to 1 of lime and one of cement.
Look at BAl CTF3 or Ardex X7GPlus flexable tile adhesive is what I use for brick slips, ARDEX X 7 probably also suitable. And same mortar mix as Ramseyman for pointing.
Hi - is this the Mapei one?: https://www.screwfix.com/p/mapei-floor-wall-tile-adhesive-grey-20kg/4367d Looks like good value
Think you would be safer with a flexible one which is what I used- more expensive - Mapei do one or cost out those KIAB has mentioned.
how about this one?; https://www.screwfix.com/p/mapei-keraquick-rapid-set-flexible-tile-adhesive-grey-20kg/7390v
