    Hi.

I have replaced an old bell box with an AG6 box.

The next day the door contact on the back door was triggering the tamper resulting in the alarm going off. It doesn't happen every time the door is open just sometimes.

Could this be a result of the new bell being connected up incorrectly ? The door contact is about 2 months old.

Any suggestions that could be causing this would be great.

Unless someone's done something quite devious within the wiring the external sounder and door contact SHOULD be completely separate, check the connections for the door contact, is it wired 4 wire or using resistors for the alarm/tamper?.

The door contact has 2 cores at it. No resistor. Had a look in the panel and the 2 cores that are blue and yellow at the door contact are green and white at the panel. I assume they gave joined it somewhere. So have no idea why it is triggering the tamper when there isn't even tamper cores there.

Only happened once today with the door being opened around 20 times.

It shouldn’t happen the door tamper is in series with the bell tamper.
Unless the bell tamper connection is shaky and closing the door quakes the bell just a thought.

If there are only two cores at the contact, and no resistors it can't itself go into tamper, only either open or close.
Check and see what cores are being used on the sounder cable.
What panel is it, how does this zone tamper manifest itself?.
You can short out the bell tamper at the panel to rule that out.

Could a dead battery cause fault, I know they can cause some weird problems when dead or dying.

It’s apparently a new box. So a new battery, I would expect.

It's a new bell box, but what about the panel.

    Should have been clearer...

I think Kiab meant end station battery Bazza , sounder has been replaced.

    Crossed in cyberspace!

Alarm doesn't normally activate in tamper mode unless it has been armed, the internal sounder will activate, I would check your tamper connections on bell box
