Apart from mastic does anyone know of any other products that could be used to fill the gaps either side of my UPVC windows? The reason I ask is that I filled them myself, and due to the width of the gap (12mm+ in places), the poor line of old Victorian brickwork and mortar, and my general incompetence, I have never been able to get a smooth finish on the mastic. I have seen white rubber-like strips used on other windows that presumably are used either instead of, or in conjunction with, mastic. This achieves the span and smoothness for wider gaps, and obviously gives a much better finish. I have looked high and wide on the net though and can't find such a product. Does anyone know what it could be ?? Thanks
you could use strips of white (assuming your windows are white) plastic quadrant... still gotta fix 'em with silicone tho'
have a look at c and a C & A ?? Were they not a clothing retailer from years gone by in the UK? If you remember, they also use to put a label inside your knickers with C & A printed on it - that was so you knew which way to put them on - cun@ and **** !
as long as your only talking a few meters go to your nearest d/g workshop and you can get small amounts from the boys on the floor for tea money[beer money] or look for a van installing windows in your area and ask and again for beer money big all
the girl builder quoted C&A's web site, which still works for me & their illustrated catalogue is still there. They've always supplied me efficiently, but you won't get much joy emailing a web address.
