That looks like romaniangay :) i.e. IWS's other
    username

Only one username by me on Screwfix Bertie, and one different one for UHM.

I cannot be r'sed creating several name for one forum (like yu and your Astramax, Telmay, jcts, gardenmint, a few new ones of late, as well as others).

I do like the thought of you thinking that I do have other usernames!

Anyway what the hell, it all makes the site more interesting :)

Ok, Im not a fulltime p&d although it does form part of what i do, In the main I do kitchen and bathroom fits and secondfix carpentry (carpenter by trade).

I only quote in writing, never verbally, When turning up to quote i will often arive in my van butI will always change into clean smart clothing before hand. I take my lap top with me and can instantly call up pictures of similar work and client details.

When I send off a quote I enclose 2 copys of my quote along with a stamped address envelope. The customer sighns and returns one copy to me to confirm aceptance.

As For pricing, im suprised you can make a living at £70 per day with insurance, fuel etc.

I charge £300 per day, booked up till october and am recomendation only so my method does work.

No porkies, The point im making is pricing is relative to the work you do and clients your targeting, Market and present yourself corectly and you will get the work you want.

My client base is fairly exclusive and many of my clients earn FARR more than me.

All my prices are by the job so my day rate is not imediately aparent although my prices are obviusly high. I am also prepared travel for work and often work away from home.

As are the comments about SFPD by romaniangay and rekoj. Has it not occured to them that 'she' may well be a 6' 6'' brick * man?

However, it is very accurate, with more and more usernames being taken out as ones spits out his dummy and sulks off to UHM, only to return with yet another mun.

read all the posts and been self employed a while now. Daily rate for decorators depending where you are £80 - £100 minimum, im in devon and get £135 - £150 a day for basic work.
I NEVER verbally estimate in front of a new customer you may get nervous and forget to add something in to the price, difficult to ask for more later especialy with the elderly, build in some spare and offer to knock a bit off if you finish early, got so much repaet work this way SHOWS TRUST, hard to earn easy to loose.
Only you know how much you need to live on so dont undersell. ALWAYS provide a typed estimate over a written, looks more pro and perhaps follow up 7 - 10 days later you never know they may have had some bad news the day after you visited, works for me.
