I have victorian property with 3 floors.
All the ceilings in the hallways and corridors have at some time in the past been artexed but we now want plain ceilings.
Is it possible to plaster over sound artex?
How much would it cost to get this work done? We live in the South West and I estimate the total area to be approx 40 sq mtrs.

    thanks guys

  2. sound artex can be skimmed but some plasterers may ask you to remove the 'peaks' first...but be wary, artex can contain asbestos

Here here Wayne. I have been called to loads of jobs where diy'er has used Polycell rubbish and couldn't get decent result. Call in a professional spread to do it properly is my only advise. Good luck!

  7. Yes it is possible to skim over artexed ceilings. Another option is to board over the ceiling and skim, depending on the condition of the ceiling. I am also from the south west but more from the Dartmoor area. If this is near you i could come over and give you an estimate? Just let me know if this suits you. Cheers

    What advice do I take?
I followed the link and it looked good but you are all talkig it down.
Surely Polycell couldn't market something that didn't work?
Nobody gave me an indication of cost for a plasterer, I know that a couple of you have offered to pop round but it would be a long drive!!
There must be a rule of thumb for price? Area is approx 40 sq mtrs.

arsenalboy Polycell is sh1te mate, as for "
Surely Polycell couldn't market something that didn't work " remember a man called Clive Sinclair and the C5...... it's very difficult to quote a price ! prices vary area to area, get some local quotes, another thing, plasterers I use they take the nibs off not the customer .
