Do you think the EU loaned the money on the pretexts that at some point in time they want Turkey to be a member of the club, having a large successful company like Ford's trading out of Turkey goes a long way to sealing the deal.

Be careful Phil. DA will accuse you of conjecture.. (much like he did in the post about the Daily Mail journalists injured in Calais,,,,,,,,, till he bothered to read the bloody article)

    Errr,,, did I say that?
    Why insinuate that I did?
But, for a simple question, a very simple answer is appropriate: No.

As I've said, Ford is a global corporation, their people will make decisions based on best economic principles.
Sure, there's a dose of political leverage and sweeteners along the way, but, it all boils down to numbers. Perhaps the, EU offered a good deal on a plant within the block, but, Ford opted for a different strategy, that made sense too them.
The, EIB, though oh well, at least we'll make some money on the loan.
    Can't win em all!

  6. No you didn't. At all. All you 'proved' was that you are a pernicious fibber.

"The EU very much does not look after its own" is as silly as it's inaccurate. It shows the measure of your reason and balance and, well, honesty.

"However, you have a knack of avoiding the unpleasant side of the EU (those rose tinted glasses that can see nothing untoward )." Again, unjustifiable nonsense. Never have I tried to claim that the EU is perfect, and when, for example, it was suggested (in the 'other' thread) that corruption could amount to X% (I forget the figure), I was appalled and said so. If I don't sl** it off as much as you do, is because it is overwhelmingly a power for good, more so than even economically. You know - the sort of things you don't consider important. Like humanity

"You state that Ford only got the loan to "open a factory in Turkey." I have asked what they make there? You still have not answered this pertinent point. I believe your avoiding the plainly obvious answer DA (though I just can't see why?) Perhaps you think it was coincidence that Ford got the loan, built the factory in Turkey the closed down Southampton? Ahh it was all just a coincidence? *** DA just answer the question and stop these delaying tactics."

This is simply not the case. You yapped about this 'issue' in the other thread at great length, trying to score a point just like your master Farage did a good while back. You started this 'claim' up again in this thread, again trying to pretend you were being a serious thinker and had a valid point.

Initially I couldn't be bothered even replying as, even if it held water, I guessed it wouldn't be a major issue in the scheme of things, and for you to try and make it so was clearly you clutching at straws.

Hey-ho, sad for you I did then do a little research and found - not totally unsurprisingly - that it was not at all as you tried to claim, and in fact was a serious of coincidences - all of them perfectly normal, legal, valid, the sort of thing that occurs every day - that only the wilfully devious would tried and put together to make a political point. As, er, Farage and Hannan did try and do.

That's it, JJ. Open and shut. Everything else is semantics. Or simply fibs.

And the evidence of this is that you cannot - because you will be exposed even MORE than you are now - put into around a dozen words what you have being trying to claim (without actually saying it).

I have no sympathy, JJ - you have entirely brought this on yourself. A scurrilous attempt at distorting facts and it backfired stunningly.

But, don't worry - you have the backing of Mr Ha. I'm sure that makes you feel great...

  7. I shall reply in kind - yaaaaah-BOOOOOOO.

  8. Not 'whichever' way you look at it. Only in your way of looking at it.

And that is the way of the Farage. Y'know - the guy you don't follow.

    BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA :)

  9. I have :p

I am happy for both sides of this argument to stand, as it does, in clear black and white on this forum. Other peeps can form their opinions based on this.

(JJ and Mr Ha - what strange bedfellows. I bet you are each equally appalled at who you are lumbered with. Not to worry - you deserve eachother...)

  10. Thank you. I just wanted that clarification as some on here are very 'happy' to post unrepresentative incidences clearly with the attempt to tarnish a 'group'.

  11. ...and they did lend 3 times that sum to Ford in the UK to help develop greener energy.

Both sums are pitiful in any case - £150M for Ford 'Turkey' is peanuts. (Oops - I said 'peanuts'.) The EIB loaned around £6BN to companies in the UK at the same time.

But don't let that stop Farage, Hannan, JJ and Mr Ha from trying to make a point. That doesn't even exist.

  12. Original post: "I think you're automatically assuming that 'intelligence' can't exist without the other traits as a prerequisite, or that they are somehow forcibly adopted as a result.
The majority of refugees/imigrants in this country are obviously going to portray many of these things'.
Why would they deliberately cause tension and intolerance towards their hosts, or express any harboured radical views, when they have come here to improve their lives? Especially when in a minority group.
People are people, you get all sorts no matter where they come from, and to suggest that all foreigners are better educated than most Europeans is disingenuous, you know this. :p
Why aren't westerners shipping their children to these 'fonts of knowledge' in droves to be educated, when in your mind, the superiority is crystal clear?
    "

Fair do's, Longs - I thought (but should have known better) that you were possibly being sarcy about the 'Why would they deliberately cause tension...' bit, perhaps suggesting they would do this as it might provoke a faster response from immigration officials. My bad.

Anyhoo, my original point was that - sadly for the countries of origin, but great for us - it ain't the average Joe wot sets out on the hellish and hugely dangerous journey to the 'West', but those who are best equipped to do so. Hence the average immigrant being more intelligent and - if you avoid the Mail - more hard-working & decent too than the average indig Brit. (It is not unusual to find many qualified doctors, for example, doing blue jobs here.)

And if JJ or Mr Ha would care to look at documentaries covering these issues, they would see people of true humility and immense gratitude for the opportunity they've been given. And what do they find once they get here? Vitriol, intense hatred and prejudice.

    It is heart-breaking.

Sadly on that point DA, I'd just like to point out that I get most of my information on these issues on the actual news programs (like BBC Breakfast, ITV News at Six, Channel 4 News at 7) Not from "Documentaries " (usually made with an agenda to prove the point they try to get across) Try watching the news now and then DA, you might well find it supplies factual information, rather than watching "documentaries."

I did notice on the original thread concerning Brexit, many posters supplied links to news items on YouTube (taken from news items on foreign tv). Certain people on here, wouldn't click the links because these links showed immigrants in a very bad light. (you know the sort DA, links showing Sweden has become the rape capital of Europe, or links showing white reporters being beaten up and attacked by immigrants, or another link showing immigrants smashing up a town in Italy,,, yep if you look hard enough you can find the truth out there)
Or clicked the links and said this wasn't factual , or had been staged for the cameras,,, or,, wasn't representative of the vast majority.. What do you think the authorities abroad do when a reporter approaches them asking to do a news item about immigrants? Do they think "Ahh we'll take this reporter to the worst bunch of the lot and let him/ her film them? Dunno DA, you probably think the Daily Mail reporters mentioned earlier in this thread, staged their own accident just to make headline news?
I honestly don't know what sort of documentaries you watch DA, because most of the "documentaries" I have seen, do show the problems created by this mass immigration into the EU. It doesn't show happy locals, calmly mingling with those from other countries. They don't show immigrants grateful for anything. I watched one earlier in the year where German authorities offered these immigrants food and water. Guess what? The immigrants didn't want the food and water, they wanted cold hard cash. Some immigrants were complaining about the lack of wifi. (I think you've already replied to the internet access point though on another thread, saying it was a " human right" as they had a need to communicate with those back home. Don't know what the internet is like back home in these war torn countries though? I'd imagine it was pretty well non existent, so quite how these immigrants expect granddad to Skype them from Allepo I just don't know)

Anyway DA, I think enough time has been wasted on these issues. The UK now has to turn it's attention to the Brexit negotiations when Article 50 is invoked. One thing is for sure,, never has a government been so "out of touch" with public opinion as it was in the run up to the Referendum vote.

Come on Phil, you really think DA's going to click any link that shows the UK in a good light? He already thinks these immigrants are brighter than us (they've all got IQ's of at least 160 don't ya know and almost everyone has a degree in nuclear physics, or a doctorate in philosophy). Just about the only thing they haven't got is a job, but never mind, our benefits system here in the UK suits them) Tell ya what, DA says these people sell everything they have to pay for the people smugglers to get them here,,,, But,,,, have you noticed the one thing they don't sell?? Yep their bloody top of the range smartphones. They've all got em. Can't feed their kids, but hang on to their iPhone or Samsung S7 at all costs :p:p:p:p:p

Here's another link he won't click Phil. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-37254135 Go on DA click it and see what Calais residents think about the situation in their own home town. Listen what happened when a BBC film crew were filming in a local public park in Calais...... And you want to encourage these people here? If they do make it here, I sincerely hope they are re-located to North Devon, by the thousands.

And how many of those companies have upped and closed down here and moved to Turkey?

Whichever way you look at it, the EU aided the relocation of Ford to Turkey.

A loan for a factory in Turkey aided the relocation. FACT.

Where have you answered the question,
"how has the loan benefitted UK?" ?

    You haven't. Another lie.

You are a pompous(and thick) bigot and talk from uranus(sic)

Yep, wasn't being sarcy at all. And I'm glad you've clarified the point that the 'first wave' of refugees were most likely the better educated, the more connected and affluent members of the country they were fleeing from. They saw the writing on the wall, and had the mean's to escape before the general population knew what was happening. This has happened throughout history whenever a country goes baps up.
But, in time, if the situation doesn't improve, the dregs of society will find their way out to exploit the good name of their predecessors.
