Be careful Phil. DA will accuse you of conjecture.. (much like he did in the post about the Daily Mail journalists injured in Calais,,,,,,,,, till he bothered to read the bloody article)Do you think the EU loaned the money on the pretexts that at some point in time they want Turkey to be a member of the club, having a large successful company like Ford's trading out of Turkey goes a long way to sealing the deal.
Errr,,, did I say that? Are you saying that those who throw trees on to roads are representative of the thousands of refugees in Calais?
As I've said, Ford is a global corporation, their people will make decisions based on best economic principles. But giving a long-standing UK business money to open a factory, not only in another country but a country OUTSIDE the EU, sounds like exactly the opposite to what the EU should be doing.
Mr. HandyAndy - Really
I did earlier in this thread, in reply to your statement that the EU looks after it's own. I think I proved with this one point that the EU very much does not look after it's own.
Well I will tell you.
The EIB give money to Ford, for a factory in Turkey.
Ford decide to relocate to Turkey(the loan certainly helps).
EU money was for the factory, not the relocation, but relocation it was.
Specifically for, no. Associated with, yes.
THICKO. Get out of here. Go get some intelligence.
Mr. HandyAndy - Really
No, you are still a bigoted twit.
Whichever way you look at it, the EU aided the relocation of Ford to Turkey.
Undoubtedly and indisputably.
Mr. HandyAndy - Really
He can't.
Errr,,, did I say that?
Why insinuate that I did?
But, for a simple question, a very simple answer is appropriate: No.
As I've said, Ford is a global corporation, their people will make decisions based on best economic principles.
Sure, there's a dose of political leverage and sweeteners along the way, but, it all boils down to numbers. Perhaps the, EU offered a good deal on a plant within the block, but, Ford opted for a different strategy, that made sense too them.
The, EIB, though oh well, at least we'll make some money on the loan.
Can't win em all!
You have a butchers at the post again.
I did explain why some of your points are valid.
And if JJ or Mr Ha would care to look at documentaries covering these issues, they would see people of true humility and immense gratitude for the opportunity they've been given.
Come on Phil, you really think DA's going to click any link that shows the UK in a good light? He already thinks these immigrants are brighter than us (they've all got IQ's of at least 160 don't ya know and almost everyone has a degree in nuclear physics, or a doctorate in philosophy). Just about the only thing they haven't got is a job, but never mind, our benefits system here in the UK suits them) Tell ya what, DA says these people sell everything they have to pay for the people smugglers to get them here,,,, But,,,, have you noticed the one thing they don't sell?? Yep their bloody top of the range smartphones. They've all got em. Can't feed their kids, but hang on to their iPhone or Samsung S7 at all costsHave a little read, then try and dismiss.

Both sums are pitiful in any case - £150M for Ford 'Turkey' is peanuts. (Oops - I said 'peanuts'.) The EIB loaned around £6BN to companies in the UK at the same time.
I shall reply in kind - yaaaaah-BOOOOOOO.
I have
Yep, wasn't being sarcy at all. And I'm glad you've clarified the point that the 'first wave' of refugees were most likely the better educated, the more connected and affluent members of the country they were fleeing from. They saw the writing on the wall, and had the mean's to escape before the general population knew what was happening. This has happened throughout history whenever a country goes baps up.Original post: "I think you're automatically assuming that 'intelligence' can't exist without the other traits as a prerequisite, or that they are somehow forcibly adopted as a result.
The majority of refugees/imigrants in this country are obviously going to portray many of these things'.
Why would they deliberately cause tension and intolerance towards their hosts, or express any harboured radical views, when they have come here to improve their lives? Especially when in a minority group.
People are people, you get all sorts no matter where they come from, and to suggest that all foreigners are better educated than most Europeans is disingenuous, you know this.
Why aren't westerners shipping their children to these 'fonts of knowledge' in droves to be educated, when in your mind, the superiority is crystal clear?"
Fair do's, Longs - I thought (but should have known better) that you were possibly being sarcy about the 'Why would they deliberately cause tension...' bit, perhaps suggesting they would do this as it might provoke a faster response from immigration officials. My bad.
Anyhoo, my original point was that - sadly for the countries of origin, but great for us - it ain't the average Joe wot sets out on the hellish and hugely dangerous journey to the 'West', but those who are best equipped to do so. Hence the average immigrant being more intelligent and - if you avoid the Mail - more hard-working & decent too than the average indig Brit. (It is not unusual to find many qualified doctors, for example, doing blue jobs here.)
And if JJ or Mr Ha would care to look at documentaries covering these issues, they would see people of true humility and immense gratitude for the opportunity they've been given. And what do they find once they get here? Vitriol, intense hatred and prejudice.
It is heart-breaking.
