This house was built in the 70s. No work done for over a year (everything fine). At 07:00 ish this morning RCD trips. All circuits tried in turn. All fine, except when upstairs sockets is selected on, the RCD trips. All plugs removed from all upstairs sockets, inc bathroom shaver. Yet it still trips? I don’t think there’s anything else I can try, so I’m about to try and find a local electrician. However, do I need to find one with special test equipment? If so what should I ask him? Thanks for any help! Dusty
I assume that you are isolating each circuit in turn by switching off at the MCB. Probably something still connected to this 'faulty' circuit. You need a sparky who is able to test the RCD (which I suspect the one at your home is OK), and insulation tester and most importantly one with brains, sorry I am tied up today

'Upstairs sockets' might include connections to (booster side) electric storage heaters. Any of them on ? Mr. Handyandy - really
