Back box pretruding

    No, it will not. They are designed to sit on top of a back box.


    What type do you currently have installed? and can you repalace with a shallower one?

    Take the box out, chisel the wall behind, refit the box.
    or
    Add an extra 5mm skim to the plaster!

    It's a 25mm metal box. Would 16mm be enough for a switch? There are quite a few cables running into it.

    It's tape and joint. So not plastered on top.
     
  6. Take the box out and chisel behind as said above if u want it flush.

    16mm hopeless for modern switches even with just one cable.
    If you have a lot of cables, get a 35mm box. You’ll regret going smaller.
