    Help a newbie out please.

    Plastered and fitted new kitchen over a year ago. So happy to finally have a kitchen that we just got on and used it... Re-plastered walls are still bare plaster.

    Now GOT TO PAINT THE BLOOMING KITCHEN!

    Bare plaster now has the expected spots of pasta sauce and has no doubt also absorbed a load of kitchen steam etc...

    Should I just mist paint the walls as is? I can't see that trying to clean the plaster (beyond the odd spot clean) is a good idea, it's so absorbent.

    Thinking mist paint, Stain Stop (Zinniser), then 2 coats. But would like to know that's the best plan before getting started.

    Thanks for any proper knowledge :)

    Sounds like a good plan.

    Getting the mist coat right is paramount, so if in doubt buy the ready mixed gear and add 5-10% water to that or just use Zinsser Gardz straight out the tin which is fool proof really.

    If your walls are greasy, then you may need to tackle this first. I’ll defer to others, but a quick wipe down with sugar soap would be my first option.

    @Astramax will know the answer!

    Yes a warm water Sugar Soap wash over would be a good start followed by a rinse off with clean water.
