I'm looking to get underfloor heating for my house, so this may mean taking up the old carpet and doing something else. So far in one of my rooms I have taken the carpet up, sanded it down with a hired belt sander and varnished it with Ronseal Walnut Varnish + additional clear varnish on top. This looks great and seems fairly hard wearing. In a different room, I have used a very tough black paint (can't remember the brand) which also looks nice, but so far is a nightmare to clean. It really shows foot marks / dust and generally everything. I have 2 other rooms to do and I'm not sure what the easiest thing will be to do + the cheapest, as sanding takes a lot of time and can be quite expensive. Any recommendations on finishes / styles. Ideally looking for hardwearing given that these will be main living rooms.
