    Hi,

I have some wall chases used to hide copper central heating pipe to fill. They are about 2m long both horizontal & vertically and about 3cm deep. I'm thinking of using either a mortar mix or bonding plaster? The pipe is covered in a hemp cloth so expansion shouldn't be an issue.

    Thanks

Obviously no joins in the chase?

I use bonding or sand and cement, you can PVA the chase first to reduce suction [6:1]. The important thing for the first coat is to strike off all the surplus so it is level with or beneath surrounding plasterwork. Anything left on the sides will prevent the finish coat from being deal level!

And wrap the copper pipe in denso tape or similar, it give anti-corrosion protection to the pipe.

I don't like the idea of chasing heating pipes into walls myself
