BEWARE Dewalt Warranty at Screwfix

    I boufgt a Dewalt details sander in March. It has lost it's sandpaper gripping ability. This problem has been getting steadily worse until it's now at the point where the paper won't stay in place at all. I took the sander back to screwfix (as it came with a 12month warranty) complete with receipt box and all paperwork. Screwfix have sent it off to be fixed, they say it should be back in about a WEEK!!  In the meantime I have no sander and am unable to complete the work I have started.

    The man at the next till spoke up on my behalf saying he thought Srewfix would replace the sander there and then as it was well within the warrenty period. He was told that this is the new Screwfix policy and he's not known anyone complain about it before!

    SO BEWARE you may be left without your tool while they try to fix it, as I have been.

    UPDATE......Still waiting for a telephone call to collect the sander.  I've been without it for OVER A WEEK, so still waiting to finnish the job I started!!

    took 3 weeks for my bosch combi drill to be returned to me!!! and it still isnt rite

    This won't be of any use to you now, but I'll give you a tip if you come across this issue in future.

    BEFORE you hand anything back that needs to be repaired, call Screwfix head office and tell them about the situation. Remember to ask them who the local authorised repair specialist is for the faulty tool/product, and get a direct phone number for them. When you hand it over at the Screwfix desk, make sure you get a reference number from them. The reference number in question should be the same one they will use to communicate with the manufacturer's local shop.

    This means that you can then cut out the middle-man (Screwfix in this case), and get a direct answer from the repair shop about how long it will take, etc.

    Anyway, I hope you get this resolved without further delay.
