Anyone know what the going rate is for block paving? Or failing that a "rule of thumb" for pricing per square metre.

To excavate old driveway, lay in 100mm of Gen1 drymix, compact, lay on 50mm sharp sand, lay 50mm block paving, sand with kiln dried and wacker in will cost about £65 per sq/m including all materials and muck away.

    Small areas will cost more.

This is the dog's b*llocks spec and is used for heavyily abused areas such as vision splays used as passing places and driveways where heavy vehicles may enter (skip lorries etc)

Use MOt Type 1 instead of Gen1 saves about £5 per sq/m

I forgot, for heavily trafficed aread use 60mm or 80mm blocks, this adds about £2 or £4 per sq/m.

This is all based on basic brick sized paving (Brett Omega for example) all other blocks are dearer.

100mm of subbase won't stand up to heavy vehicles driving over it for very long.

We use 150mm minimum and increase that up to 200 for vehicle crossings.
