My instructions state "For installations that allow internal overflow...". Searched the forum & seen previous answers. My question is, does "allow" mean (i)as governed by regs of any sort, or, (ii)where I decide that's what I want? I'm directly replacing my lovely pink suite.

In this case, you have what ever suits you:)

All new toilets should now have internal overflows which simply leak down into the pan and does away with having to locate a pipe thru the wall.
Suggest you ensure your purchase has this system, saves a lot of work

Thanks - mine has fittings for both, internal it is, enough holes in the walls already!

How old is 'new' installation. The reason I ask is that I moved into a new build 3 years ago and the toilets do not have an internal overflow. When did this regulation come into effect?
