boiler heats radiators but not dom hot water

morning guys

so basically my boiler's on the blink. radiators work fine at the proper temperature but hot water doesn't. it heats the water for maybe 5 seconds half-heartedly then it goes cold.

have tried repressurising it and resetting the digital board, which did not work.

it's a combi boiler, and i should mention that the digital control board has come loose though the buttons still work. that's probably not the issue though

so i just want to know if this is an easy fix or if i should call a professional. many thanks guys

Not enough info here, what boiler make what model, how old is the boiler. Could be the diverter valve in the boiler, the secondary heat exchanger or something I do not know about. Needs a Gas Safe type.

it is a caprizplus 24a 28a

those all sound like things i'd need a plumber for unless replacing those are easy jobs.

Sounds like a classic diverter valve or faulty sensor issue. It’s heating for a few seconds then going cold, which usually means the hot water side of the boiler isn’t getting the signal or flow it needs. If you’re handy, you could poke around the diverter valve or check for a clogged plate heat exchanger, but honestly most people just call a Gas Safe engineer for these things. It’s probably not a massive job, but I wouldn’t mess with it too much if you’re unsure. Good luck!
