Boiler question that has British Gas foxed...trips RCD..

    Well BG are out of the picture for a future fix so I need another solution... ! I can call Glow worm who have a fixed price for £249 but I would like to try an understand the issue that might be causing the earth thing first ideally...

    There are quite a few things that can cause an RCD to trip ,moisture or water present on electrics or electronics ( PCB for example), insulation failure ,arcing on a switch , even an accumulation of earth leakage across more than one circuit / appliances ,to name a few. There are many possibilities on your central heating / domestic hot water system alone that can be the root cause ,the boiler ,the programmer ,pump ,motorised valves ,thermostats ,wiring centre etc. Anywhere where current can " escape" from the circuit.
    Its Impossible for anyone on the forum to know where your issue is, that can only be established on site unfortunately.
