She is part Indian, part Ulster Scots, her name is Harris? a Scottish name is traceable to about 1750, so every McDonald, Harris, etc, like every O'Brian in Ireland can trace to the place their ancestors were in the 18th century at Edinburgh registry office.

Yes, it's called your family history and explains a lot about who you are, it's an alien concept to me to not appreciate that as part of who I am, but each to their own.
