    Britain’s Top Tradesperson 2019 – Competition Terms & Conditions

    1. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Entry and participation is free.
    2. The Promoter is Screwfix Direct Limited (company number 3006378) of Trade House Mead Avenue Yeovil BA22 8RT
    3. The prize (“Prize”) will be a trade bundle worth approximately £20,000, including a Laptop (make and models to be confirmed) with accessories, a business software package, £10,000 worth of credit to spend at Screwfix, and an allowance [up to £5000] to spend on career enhancing courses/workshops e.g. website design, social media, business accounts and finance, specialist trade courses etc.
    4. The competition (“Competition”) is open to all UK residents aged 18 years old and over, except for employees of the Promotor, their immediate families and anyone else connected professionally with the Competition. Only one entry will be accepted per person and per household.
    5. Entry into the Competition will close at 23:59 (BST) on Sunday 4th August 2019.
    6. Participants can enter the Competition by either completing and submitting the online entry form available at www.screwfix.com/btt, or alternatively requesting a physical form through a Trade Counter, to be returned to FAO Marketing BTT Team, FREEPOST, Screwfix Trade House, Mead Avenue, Yeovil, BA22 8RT .
    7. Entry forms will be judged by the Promoter, which may include telephone and skype videos interviews, and the best entries (in the judge’s sole discretion) will be shortlisted. Details for the next stage will be provided to all shortlisted semi-finalists. It is essential that semi-finalists are available for telephone/video interviews, where required by the Promotor, during the shortlisting process and available to attend the finals event (the “Final”). The Promotor reserves the right to disqualify any semi-finalist who is not available during the selection process, not available to attend the Final, or who cannot be contacted within a week of contact being initiated by the promotor.
    8. The Final will be held in Farnborough during Screwfix Live 2019, between 27 and 29 September 2019, where the Promoter will select and announce the winner “Competition Winner”. Specific details will be disclosed to the semi-finalists in advance of the event.
    9. The Prize will be awarded to the finalist that the judges consider to be most worthy of the title “Britain’s Top Tradesperson” based on all of the information in their entry, their interview at the Judging day, and any other relevant information that may become known to the Promotor prior to the decision being made.
    10. The Prize will be sent to the winner within 6 weeks following the final. The £10K Screwfix credit must be used within 12 months, and anything not used after this time will be written off.
    11. The decision of the judges will be final and unchallengeable, and, in their absolute discretion, they may declare void any entry or the Competition itself should they consider that there are no entries reaching their required standard. In the judges sole discretion, they can award prizes or not, as they see fit. The judges may also decide, in their absolute discretion, to change the rules of the Competition while it is running, if it appears to them that it would be equitable or desirable to do so. No correspondence will be entered into. The judges may also decide, in their absolute discretion, to disqualify any entrant for any reason at any point in the Competition.
    12. The Prize is personal and non transferable unless otherwise agreed in writing by the Promoter. No cash alternative or other prize alternatives are available except that in the event of unforeseen circumstances out of its control, the Promoter reserves the right to offer an alternative prize of equal or greater value.
    13. Entries made after the Promotional Period, lost, received damaged or delayed will be disqualified. The Promotor accepts no responsibility for disqualified entries, interrupted or unavailable network service or other connections. Any participant who enters or attempts to enter the Competition in a manner, which in the Promotors view is contrary to these Terms and Conditions or by its nature is fraudulent or unjust to other entrants (including without limitation tampering with the operation of the Competition, cheating, hacking, deception or any other unfair playing practices such as intending to annoy, threaten or harass any other entrants or Screwfix and/or any of its agents or representatives), or who submits an illegible or offensive entry, may be rejected from the Competition at the Promotors sole discretion. No automated, third party or bulk entries are permitted. Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification. The Promotor reserves the right (at their sole discretion) to disqualify any individual found to be tampering with the operation of the promotion, or to be acting in any manner deemed by the Promotor to be disruptive or in violation of the Terms and Conditions.
    14. By submitting an entry, it will be assumed by the Promoter that all information submitted is true, accurate, current and complete. The Promoter reserves the right to check the validity of any entry.
    15. As part of the judging of the Competition, the Promoter and their third party agent managing the Competition (McCann PR) may request that the Promoter be put in contact with customers of the entrant, in order to allow the Promoter to obtain feedback about the entrant and their work. Prior to providing details of any customers, the entrant must ensure that those customers have consented to being contacted by the Promoter or their agent.
    16. The Promoter, with the finalists and winners’ consent, may require the Competition Winner and also all finalists to participate in publicity events in relation to the Competition up to 12 months following the award of the Prize. In particular, the Promoter may publish the Competition Winner’s first name and hometown, photographs and footage of the Competition Winner with their Prize in future editions of its publications and websites (including social media) and may require the Competition Winner to take part in any advertising campaigns and/or press interviews to promote the Competition for the following year. By participating in the Competition, each entrant agrees to grant the Promoter and its affiliates a perpetual, royalty-free, exclusive, worldwide licence to publish and broadcast and otherwise use the material in any media including the unlimited right to sub-licence. Each entrant further confirms that the publishing or broadcast of such material will not breach any third party’s intellectual property or associated rights and that any necessary permissions have been obtained. Each entrant agrees to indemnify the Promoter against any claims brought by a third party for breach of such rights. The entrant may use the Promoter’s name and logo only with the Promoter’s written consent.
    17. To the full extent permissible by law, neither the Promoter nor its parent company, affiliates, directors, officers, employers or agents shall be liable to any entrant for any claim in respect of any losses (including without limitation special, indirect or consequential losses), injuries, or damages of any kind whatsoever arising from or connected to the Competition.
    18. The Promoter reserves the right to withdraw the Competition at any time if circumstances make this necessary.
    19. The decision of the Promoter is final and binding in all matters relating to this Competition. The Promoter will not enter into any correspondence in relation to the Competition.
    20. This Competition is governed by the law of England and the courts of England will have exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any dispute arising from the entry or interpretation of these terms and conditions.
    21. By entering the Competition, all entrants understand that the personal data which they provide in the application form shall be processed by the Promotor in order to run the Competition. Such personal data shall be processed in accordance with the Screwfix Privacy Policy available at www.screwfix.com/privacypolicy.
    22. Entrants will be deemed to have read, understood and accepted these terms and conditions upon entering the Competition.
