Broken wall around door frame

Hi,

I’m trying to repair a damaged wall before fitting new fire door frames.

What would you recommend to use to repair the walls before I fit the frames. Needs to be solid for good fixings I was thinking.

Dilute PVA the area first to seal it and to get the mortar to adhere better.

Appreciate the tip. Any tips on how best to make it nice and square around the corners? Should I use any metal mesh?

As jord says and you could drill in without any hammer and put a couple of screws into the sound blocks to help with a key for the mortar. Take out any loose bits. If you put a timber edge up to form a shutter that will allow you to push the mortar in tight and get a straight edge for the new frame
