Can’t connect new Worcester thermostat

Hi,

My Worcester thermostat was playing up with the rotating dial. Got a new one and I’m trying to pair the new one but it doesn’t pair. They sent instructions how to do it but does anyone have any experience on this. On the boiler, there’s an installers menu and I go to the pairing and it doesn’t pair upon doing the thermostat instructions I need to do. I’m doing nothing wrong here and when I try to pair the old one back, it’ll pair instantly. Does the whole programmer receiver on the boiler need to be fully replaced in order to change a thermostat? If anyone knows a bit about this I’ll be happy to send pics across. Thanks.

Thanks for reply. Thermostat is the comfort 1 rf. hope this pic helps.

Have you tried an F1 RF reset (service menu) on both the boiler receiver and thermostat then tried re-pairing?

Nice, it seems like u know what you’re talking about, I appreciate your responses. I’ll try that now. Worcester sent the instructions which were easy to follow so I hope it’s just a matter of factory resetting both. I’ve only done factory reset on the new thermostat and not the programmer receiver.

Teki, I can easily factory reset the thermostat by going to f1 and then 1 and pressing and it goes back to 0 meaning it’s factory reset as per the instructions Manual. How do I do the programmer receiver on the boiler? Is reset on there the same as factory reset?

I can go to the installers menu on the boiler programmer receiver and is it simply going to reset all like the pics?

I’ve done a factory reset just now on the new thermostat. I haven’t done a factory reset on the programmer receiver yet until I know how to do it properly.

I tried pairing the new thermostat again just now and it doesn’t pair. Just stays in paid mode on the boiler programmer and on the thermostat I go to the rf1 and then press A and it flashes 0. It should go to 1 and the boiler receiver should pair it. The boiler programmer stays in pairing mode and the thermostat just goes back to A without pairing.

If there isn't a specific RF reset on the boiler display, try the unpair option. Then retry the pairing process. Have the batteries been taken out of the old thermostat?

I’ve tried that. Yes, I took batteries out of old thermostat once I unpaired it. I only have the new one with batteries in. Been struggling to pair it over the weekend. Reason I needed a new one is because the old one was faulty when turning it to try put heating on. The dial rotary wouldn’t move properly. Worcester sent a new one out along with the programmer receiver. They said I don’t need to change the boiler programmer and can simply unpaid old thermostat and pair new one. I told Worcester but because of bank holiday probz get reply tomorrow now. Not sure why it’s not pairing.

It's possible that different software versions may not be compatible. Check in the menus of both.

Maybe. I thought the same thing. That means I’ll have to change the whole programmer receiver on the boiler and then it’ll pair with the new thermostat.

when I try pair the old thermostat again it picks it up instantly. So, all the instructions I’m doing right, it’s just something not compatible I think.
I appreciate your replies. Thanks man.

I suspect you'll have to also change the base in the boiler. Technically, this should be done by someone who is Gas Safe Registered as effectively you are removing the case which forms part of the air seal and must be put back correctly.

Yeah, I’ll see what Worcester say tomorrow whether they can send someone out or something like that. Would have got reply today but being bank holiday it’ll be tomorrow now.

From your knowledge, will that definitely fix it? Is that the only way now that the new thermostat will pair as I seem to have exhausted all options.

thanks for your replies bud.

If the rotary knob becomes difficult to turn it can sometimes be the little circuit board just needs pushed back in to its retaining clips.
Never had pair one together.
Changing the receiver on some models is simple as it just clips out from the front.
But this one looks like the case needs lifted off.

Just to update on this, Worcester got in touch and the engineer said it’s not compatible and they’re coming out to sort it all and change the whole thing.
