can I adapt a 3 way shower mixer to a dual? Accidentally bought the wrong one!

Hi there,

Can anyone help? Our plumber due later this week and I've just realised (being a total layperson and also in a complete babybrain moment) that I bought the incorrect thermostatic shower valve!

This is the product I have
https://www.bigbathroomshop.co.uk/m...ErHe5I4X0FA-FeV6pDQaAp_-EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
Unfortunately I bought it more than 6 months ago so no way to return

I only need a dual one for an overhead shower/hand shower combo - it's for a shower, no bath (this is what the setup should be - https://www.bigbathroomshop.co.uk/m...4mRg6Kr8w_lxSXhGkVcaApgCEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds)

Could I potentially ask our plumberto do something like change the valve cartridge(??) to a dual one and just remove the bottom lever? The dual valve product looks exactly the same just with a blanking plate where the triple has the extra section with the bath lever.

Or am I scuppered? Googling isn't getting me anywhere and this is a bit urgent (baby now due in 4 weeks and this is the last opportunity to have our bathroom ready!)

Thanks so much in advance for any help

Put the wrong one on eBay or Gumtree and buy the right one. Paying a plumber figure out how to to modify the shower will likely result in more expense and an unsatisfactory outcome.

Have you bought the shower valve and riser rail, or just the valve?
If both then yes, you should be OK to remove the bottom valve and fit a blank plug although it won't be the same finish as the shower valve and may look odd.
Ask the plumber to have a look first.

Thanks both

The product is actually discontinued in the colour I have it in @HarryL1234 , so trying to find another is proving really tricky!

I have bought the riser and the valve yes @longboat. Thanks for you advice, I will get him to have a look and see if there is anything he can do, he's normally really creative with the idiosyncrasies of our old house and the complications I have form for bringing him, so fingers crossed!

@longboat apologies, I forgot to ask - do you think I should pick up some alternative cartridge thingy from screwfix in advance or is this a waste of time?
Thanks!
