Does anybody know if it is ok to use drywall adhesive to stick the insulated cement based boards to the wall.

I doing our bathroom and have solid but uneven walls that I want to stick the jackoboards. I have a bag of drywall adhesive which is great for plasterboards but I wanted to know if it is ok to use a gypsium based adhesive with cement boards.

I need to use a combination of dot and dab in places and can use a notched tiling trowel in other parts.

It will probably work but tile adhesive is much stronger. So not sure how the gypsum adhesive will hold up under the weight of tiles etc (assuming its going to be tiles). Possibly get a bag of flexi adhesive and ad a few dabs here and there aswell to be sure. Tile adhesive is also better with moisture and the gypum will swell and soften if any moisture gets in it.

Bagged tile adhesive and put screws in when dry.
