Can I use scaffold boards as decking?

Anyone tried this? I find the cost of proper decking boards a bit out of my budget but I can get hold of some good quality scaffold boards for not a lot of money. Is it worthwhile?

I've done it and it works well. Space them ½" apart, Chamfer the edges and sand the surface with a floor sander and they are great but dont have the soft 'underfoot' feel that decking affords but then they are a lot cheaper than decking. I treated them with Sadolin and they are still looking good after three years. They do expand a bit but that is accommodated by the ½" spacing.

The people who it was done for have since asked if we would quote their neighbours for a similar project.

Remember to use tanalised floor joists and decking screws.

Don't forget to support them every 1200mm or else you will have very bouncing decking.
