    To clarify & for example

When a new member posts with a link or loads of links it has to go through moderation & be approved before it shows on the main board.

    Hi @Welshdragon1

I know why you are asking this and thank you for reporting the spam post a little while ago.

We have anti spam controls on our forum, which work very well. What you see on the forum is the very small percentage that get though our automatic filters, you do not see the amount of the attempted posts which are stopped, for example in the last hour there has been a single post which you saw and reported, 34 posts have been blocked and have not been published.

I think at this time we have the right balance of ease of use and posting on the Screwfix Community and anti spam controls. I do not want to make it a difficult to post on our forum, and adding a block or delay to new users would cause this. However as I have always done is monitor this and change the controls as required to keep this balance of ease of use and controls to a reasonable level.

    Regards

    Peter

    Cheers Peter :)

I know exactly what you mean about the balance etc, as a couple of forums I moderate, we have the same issues, back last year there was an abundance of Russian orientated spam that had to be dealt with as they cracked every filter that was in place at the time, since the use of Project Honey Pot they have never managed to get through (so far) & best of all they are free ;)

There does seem to be one unusual name that is cropping up on all the recent spam, can't the filters be set to block any posts with that word in it?
