Can you seal internal blockwork with a paint rather than faffing with a membrane onto stud walls

Converting a garage to a home office and have seen videos of people putting a membrane onto stud work to create a weatherproof barrier before fitting to blokwork walls.

This looks really time consuming - is there not a roller brush product that I could put on the concrete blocks instead...?

Also, should there be an air gap of say 25mm between the blockwork and stud work walls..?

    Many thanks

Use duplex plasterboard. If you tape and fill the joints the foil acts as your vapour barrier.

Air gap depends on wall construction. Work out what sort of wall you want and the do the u-value calcs. Alternatively just look in the NHBC guidance and there’ll be a standard wall design for single skin block and timber studwork.
