I would like to cap an old outlet, currently terminated, in an isolation valve fitted with a stop plug. Where can I buy 1-off 1/2" BSP Stop Cap? (I presume that is what I need since the OD is approx 21mm in steel/iron pipe). How much do you think it would cost to get a competent person to do this competently?
How much do you think it would cost to get a competent person to do this competently? Whatever it costs would be lot less than your life and home is worth. I would suggest that a minimum of say, £50, plus VAT plus parts could be a starting price..... Of course if you live in Lunnon and call out Pimlico plumbers you can treble that. (and they want your Credit Card details before they send a geezer out) DH
Why? And why not just get the GF fitter to supply the bits? How much? £40 - £100, depending on fitter and location. Phone a couple and find out.
It is Lunnon unfortunately. A few quid for a stop cap and a bit of PTFE tape and 5 mins time or 100-200 quid for a GF... no wonder people try and take short cuts. I'll see if I can find a Gas Safe friend of a friend and try to negotiate for beer.
Obvious GAS PTFE tape Why would a "friend of a friend" negotiate for a beer.....??? If you work in a bank can I come round for a free loan - no. It makes my blood turn to vapour it does...
100-200 quid for a GF... no wonder Where did you get the £100/200 from would like to cap an old outlet, currently terminated, in an isolation valve fitted with a stop plug Why do you want to do this? I'm intrigued
Why do you want to do this? I'm intrigued ------------------------ 100 = 2x50. London weighting estimate! There is an old gas fire outlet sticking out of the floor; this is now disused but still connected. Need the outlet to disappear to allow furniture in the gap. The plan is to terminate under the floor boards so it does need a good seal/proper job.
If you work in a bank can I come round for a free loan ------------------------------------------ If I did and I knew you... I would give you my best rate. I never said FREE.
Fair enough... I ALWAYS give my friends my very best rates. In fact I give everyone my best rates - that's how fair I am!
Of course it might well be rudundant,as they often are, so get the supplier to check (free usually) and if it is redundant then you can do it all yourself, as its just another bit if pipe then.
