Just using the summer to tighten up various bits and pieces on the water side of the central heating, combi boiler with 8 mm tubing, and thinking would be a good time to fit a filter. Can I have any recommendation as to filters please? I have a clear straight vertical pipe run of 240 mm on the 22 mm return into the boiler. I was thinking of this one which is "new" so no reviews, from our sponsors: https://www.screwfix.com/p/sentinel-eliminator-vortex-300-water-treatment-filter-22mm/486fg
Thanks for that, looks like it will fit, 241 mm. https://cdn.plumbnation.co.uk/site/...ves---22mm/tf1-omega-filter-with-valves-v.pdf
Adey Magnaclean - reputedly way superior to most others. And extremely easy to fit - 20 minutes for those who have done a few, less than an hour for most DIY.
Magnaclean Pro 2. If space is tight then MagnaClean Micro2 filter. Very easy to fit. https://www.adey.com/product/magnaclean-micro2 https://tooltalk.experttrades.com/adey-magnaclean-micro2
Thanks for that. Just looked at the cutout dimensions for the Pro 2 and it only needs 150mm which is well within what I have available. Would prefer a "full size" one so looks good.
I have used both Magnacleans and Fernox filter. I am really impressed with the performance of both but I think fernox is easier to fit & clean. So, you can use Fernox filter for a central heating unit.
The Omega is a good bit of kit but the basic Fernox TF1 is shocking, The o ring always leaks which is why Fernox changed the way they are flushed out from open up to isolate, remove magnet and flush out.
Fernox easier to fit ! No way. The Magnaclean - drain down, cut out 150mm of pipe, install fitting, tighten two compression joints. Remove spacer, add Magnaclean. Refill. You cannot get any easier and 20 minutes to do it.
