Hi, I have a sloping tarmac drive that causes water to pool against the exterior wall so I am in the process of Fitting channel drains. I have dug down to existing pipe work in order to join into it and there is a lot of water in the hole I have dug. My question is, “should this be like this, is the drainage leaking or could this be the water table?” Looking for help before I proceed any further. Thanks in advance.

Easy way to find if this is a high water table, dig a few inspection holes at various distance from your current hole & at same depth, cover them over & leave 24 hours, then inspect.

Could it be a leaking water main?

Hopefully not a leaking main, I’ve scooped most of the water out so I will check tomorrow and see if it has risen and possibly dig a few other holes as you suggested. Thanks
