No I don't understand the point, on one hand your saying that its only from the 1800s that we've been mass using.
Then you say its not recent.??

The 1800s are like yesterday in the great scheme of things.

    So your

    Not Liberal

    Not pretend middle class.

    Not normal

    What are you then.

  4. Exactly as you have described, is what I am.

A free thinking, caring, working class, family man. And yes, classes still exist, they need to, to allow theanti establishments to have their position

  5. Fossil fuel use hasnt escalated in mans recent history then ?

How many planes and cars were there, or central heating systems, or electric lights, or power stations, or tvs were thereprior to the 1800's ?

Yes Yes I understand that, what I'm saying is that in that time there hasn't been any catastrophic climate changes compared to what's gone beforehand.
Our time of mass use is a micro second in real time, so how can anybody be able to say we are the cause, its just utter nonsense.

I'm afraid your wasting your time at the moment, so called green energy is great personly I think all new homes should have solar panels as standard and tidal power invested in more. But the technology is there to use coal cleanly. But the biggest pollution cause is increasing population, it's unsustainable. What's the answer I have no idea but every new person requires masses of energy and the problem is never addressed.

  8. Erm, just look at recent info etc ?

  9. I dont agree with some of the comment and view, but i agree the base theory behind it.

But it doesnt mean we should carry on using power irresponsibly. Otherwise its an ostrich attitude

  10. Now, somebody please explain about obamacare ?

Obamacare, a system that on paper look good, healthcare for everybody.

In reality a very expensive system that in a country that had never had Free healthcare is a shock to the financial system that many don't understand why it should be.

The option now is that everybody will have cheap insurance for healthcare, will this work, unknow and quite frankly don't care, its in America so not our problem

I suggest you stop being liberal and start being British and instead of knocking everything try embracing it.

  16. Try looking it up, then. It'll surprise you.

Deaths from the nuclear power industry - apart from the few unfortunate folk who went right in to Chernobyl to pile it with concrete and were subsequently pretty much fried - you will struggle to find a single death attributed to this industry and its pollution. And that is with Chernobyl, 3 Mile Island, Fukushima etc.

    Deaths from fossil energy?

Jeepers - pure ballpark guestimate; tens - if not hundreds - of thousands from mining coal, gas and oil, many hundreds of thousands from air pollution, potentially 7 Billion from global warming.

    I hope that helps.

  17. Longs, you didn't actually 'like' that Philism, did you? Aw maaan. Loooongs... :(

  18. Good point.

    Damn...

  19. You had a say when you voted for the self-same populist, post-truth nonsense as spouted by Farage.

And some of us on here warned of this very thing. What it could/would lead to.

And I honest-to-gawd take no pleasure in saying that is has.

No Brexit = no Trump. No Pen. No Wilder.

This will be one of the former-Great Britain's darkest historical moments.

  20. As I understand it, it's not for everybody. It is not an American 'NHS'.

It is to fill the gap between the very poorest - who do have very basic health care provided - and the relatively wealthy who can afford insurance. It's for the 'middle' section, those who would struggle to meet insurance payments, but who are not entitled to the 'destitute' care either.

Around 20 million folk, that's all.

And you really think that's not a price worth paying?

True case - I was helping out at our local school, tidying up the area, and helping me was an American visitor - a friend of the Head. This was when Obama had just won, and he was scathing. He couldn't understand how he was so respected over here.

He slagged off everything, but mostly the potential cost of his planned Obamacare program. He just wanted a drop in taxes, so that someone like him - a potential entrepreneur - could get started.

Well, I met him again a few years later when he next visited when that Head was retiring. I asked how he was, and he told me of his narrow escape from death. He pointed out the drain pipe buried under his skin which relieved the excess pressure from his skull following a brain op to remove a tumour.

Here's the thing - he'd been feeling weird for ages, but since he was self-employed, starting off a hoped-for property renovation business, he couldn't afford to have it checked out.

His wife then got herself a decent job and with it came health insurance which also covered her family, so she told him to go and have it checked out. He did - and was told the tumour could have been fatal at any point.

Had she not had that job at that time, the chances are high that he'd be dead. Obamacare - not yet introduced - would have saved him.

(I did not point out the irony, tho' - lawd help me - I was tempted...)
