Hi, looking for opinions on the clear space that is needed around an island to both walls and other units.

    Many thanks!

Depends on your waist size I guess.

As a general rule, 900mm clearance is about right. It allows for someone to open draws without being pinned up against other units. It also allows for the changing of any appliances should it be needed.

Great thank you. Waist sizes are quite modest in this case!

    In case it helps...

When we were planning our new kitchen 6 years ago we were thinking about this... then my wife had the fantastic idea of having a mobile island... one that's not fixed to the floor, but is on wheels.... essentially a trolly.
    It's worked out brilliantly.
Obviously this wont work if your intending to have electricity/water included in the island, but otherwise worth thinking about.

With it central we have 75cm each side.

    Good luck,
