Hi,
We're starting phase 2 of a refurb using different builders and have a gas pipe with connection - yellow pipe from main that transitions to copper tube - that the new builders plan to concrete over in what will be the kitchen. They mentioned putting a membrane over it.
I remember the previous builders telling us to keep the connection accessible - it will be under kitchen cabinets and a porcelain floor, leading to the boiler. It's also accompanied by mains water and plumbing.
What should be done? I have read about putting a sleeve over the gas pipe to trap gas in case of a leak and to protect it from cement.
Could or should we create a gully? Should we create a hatch in the base of the kitchen unit that will sit over the connection?
One concern would be if we or future property owners ever wanted to move the boiler, how would we get to the gas?
Thanks for any pointers
